WutSum is run by Simen Aaserud, Norway. Simen Aaserud is the data controller for the personal data described here.

Using WutSum without an account

Your folders, products, prices, links, screenshots and settings are saved in your browser’s storage on your own device. They are not sent to us.

You can remove them at any time by deleting folders in WutSum or by clearing the site data in your browser.

If you sign in

To let you sign in and sync between devices, we store:

• Your email address (and, if you sign in with Google, Apple or Microsoft, the basic profile details they send us, like your name).
• Your folders and products: names, links, prices, currencies and settings.
• Screenshots – only if you turn on “Upload screenshots to the cloud” in the account window. It is off by default, and turning it off deletes them from the cloud.

We use this only to provide the service you asked for (GDPR article 6(1)(b)). We never use it for marketing, and we never sell or share it.

Getting the price from a link

When you paste a link or press “Get price from link”, the link is sent to our server, which visits the shop page and reads the product name, price and picture. We don’t save the link on the server.

Product pictures are loaded directly from the shop by your browser, so the shop can see your IP address – just as when you visit the shop yourself.

Exchange rates

Your browser fetches exchange rates from Frankfurter (frankfurter.dev). Like any website, it can see your IP address. No other information about you is sent.

Sharing a list

When you share a list, the list is packed into the link itself (after the “#”). That part of the link is never sent to our server. Anyone you give the link to can see the list.

Services we use

• Vercel – hosts the website. Their servers keep short-lived technical logs (like IP addresses) to keep the site running and secure (GDPR article 6(1)(f), legitimate interest).
• Supabase – stores accounts and synced data, and sends sign-in emails. The data is stored on servers in the EU.

Both only process data on our behalf, under data processing agreements. Both are American companies; if data is accessed from outside the EU/EEA, it is protected by the EU’s standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep data

We keep your account data until you delete it. You can delete your account in the account window (“Delete my account”): your email address, lists and screenshots are then deleted from our database right away. Our providers’ backups may keep a copy for a short time before it is erased automatically.

Technical logs are only kept for a short time.

Cookies and storage

WutSum has no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies. We only use the browser storage the app needs to work: your lists, your settings and – if you sign in – your login. That’s why there is no cookie banner.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. You can do most of this yourself in WutSum (“Save to this device” and “Delete my account”). For anything else, email simen.k.aaserud@hotmail.com. We answer within one month.

If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.no).

Children

Accounts are not meant for children under 13. Anyone can use WutSum without an account.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
